Artist Bio & My mission to you

..Hi!
Hello, darling!

I'm Shelby and I am the artist behind this page. I started dabbling in art over COVID lockdown with some craft acrylic paints and canvases to pass the time after my newly online classes. I was feeling stuck in my career path and realizing my vision of what I thought going into the social sciences would be like... was different than how it actually was, and I was growing more dissatisfied with the reality of my chosen path as the days progressed. I found a lot of love for painting, and still use acrylic paint to this day!

A big motivator into approaching art in a different way is affordability. While yes, I do need to make profits to maintain viability to keep creating for both my lovely customers and for myself, I have definitely seen handmade items be extremely costly and am saddened I cannot afford certain cute items I want. Obviously as we know, handmade items can be pricy because most artists, including myself, want to pay themselves a living wage. My mission here is to provide items at a variety of costs, but focusing on affordable handmade art for people of a variety of incomes. Handmade art shouldn't be inaccessible for those who want to support real artists in any way that they can, so I am hoping to create bundle packs, feature seasonal sales and work with my customers in providing them options when times are tough.

In a world where poverty is a huge issue among many people today, when they do have a couple extra dollars to get something for themselves, I want them to have the option to consume art and support small business, and not feel cornered into supporting low quality drop shipped items in order to accessorize and add their aesthetic vision in their life. The little things in life are so important for our overall morale and mental health. I think without joy and the ability to self express or consume art we are often plagued in shades of grey, and I believe we all deserve to live a life in full color.
